Our Christmas Tree Varieties
Nordmann Fir (Abies nordmanniana)
The classic shape and dark green glossy needles of this tree make it a popular choice – in fact, it is currently the most popular choice in the UK.
The tree holds its needles well, even after it has been cut, making it the ideal choice for inside the home, where conditions are often warm.
The Nordmann Fir is often called a non-drop tree, which, like all cut trees, isn’t 100% true. However, its needle retention is excellent, and it is much more resilient to heat than other varieties.
This Christmas tree has soft, deep green foliage, smooth grey bark, and a classic triangular shape.
The needles often give off a fresh, clean, citrus scent, though they are not as fragrant as other varieties.

Norway Spruce (Picea abies)
The Norway Spruce is a popular choice in the UK and can be found every year in Trafalgar Square and at 10 Downing Street.
This Spruce is famous for its triangular shape, green upward-pointing needles, and distinctive, classic ‘Christmas-like’ pine fragrance.
It has a dense, bushy shape, making it perfect for decorating and holding a variety of decorations.
The Norway Spruce prefers a cooler environment; if it gets too warm, it is more likely to drop its needles.
While it is suitable for outdoor use, it can also be kept inside during the festive season if your home is on the cooler side.

Serbian Spruce (Picea omorika)
Picea omorika, also known as the Serbian Spruce, has dense branches and a lovely narrow conical shape, making it perfect for smaller spaces. Its gracefully shaped, arching, sweeping branches make this a stunning tree.
The dark foliage, which is grey beneath, gives the tree almost a pale blue appearance.
More mature trees often have attractive cones that hang from the branches, adding a unique element to this Christmas favourite.

Blue Spruce (Picea pungens)
A classic tree, best known for its beautiful color, which ranges from steel blue to silvery-green. The Blue Spruce is a symmetrical and attractive tree with dense branches.
It’s not a needle-fast tree, but watering daily will help reduce possible needle drop.
As its needles are among the sharpest, we don’t advise this variety for families with young children. However, it’s a good choice if you want to deter cats from climbing your tree.

Fraser Fir (Abies fraseri)
Splendid for smaller spaces due to its slimmer, conical shape.
The Fraser Fir also has a delicious balsam scent that fills the room throughout the entire festive period.
This tree helps reduce vacuuming time with its excellent needle retention, and its dense branches hold soft green/silver needles – perfect for a family Christmas.

Silver Fir (Abies koreana)
Silver Fir, as the name suggests, is known for its striking silver appearance, with silvery-blue needles that give it a unique and beautiful look.
This tree has a classic pyramidal shape and a festive fragrance.
Silver Fir is celebrated for its long-lasting needles, which, combined with its distinct colour and dense, symmetrical foliage, make it an excellent aesthetic choice for your home during the holidays.

Picea glauca (Conica)
Neat, compact and perfect for small spaces!

Freshly cut, potted or pot grown?
Freshly Cut Trees
These trees are freshly cut and need regular watering, just like cut flowers. We drill all trees up to 3m for easy stand fitting. Perfect for that classic Christmas look!
Pot Grown Trees
Grown in a pot from seed, these trees have a strong root system and are perfect for those short on space or time. Keep them watered and use a saucer to protect surfaces. After Christmas, you can plant them in your garden (but we can’t guarantee survival if kept indoors too long).
Potted Trees
Lifted from the field and placed into a pot, these trees create an instant display. Keep them watered, and remember to use a saucer underneath. We don’t guarantee them due to potential root damage during potting.

Caring for your christmas tree
Keep your cut tree outside until ready to bring indoors.
Remove it from the net and store it in a sheltered area, preferably standing in water.
Choose a good spot for your tree.
Avoid placing your tree near heaters or in direct sunlight, as this will dry it out quickly and reduce its lifespan.
Water, water, water!
Once inside, keep your tree topped up with water and check daily. During the first few days, your tree can drink up to 6 pints of water a day, so make sure it stays hydrated for a longer-lasting, beautiful tree!
